The Proton S70 marks a return to the C-segment sedan space at B-segment pricing, which is surely enticing to those considering established nameplates. With good road manners, a capable powertrain, a roomy interior, good practicality and competitive pricing, the S70 does many things right, but the questionable HMI might be a bit of chore for some to deal with.
For
  • Compliant ride and capable handling
  • Capable powertrain
  • Very practical interior
  • Voice control is effective
Against
  • Highlight features are only found on higher variants
  • Lack of physical controls can be annoying to some
  • Tyre noise is noticeable at higher speeds
  • Lack of Android Auto/Apple CarPlay support will put some off

1.5T Flagship (2024)
Bought new, Owned for 1 Year
Fuel Economy: 16.0 km/litre (6.3 L/100 km), RON95, Mileage: 3,000 km/month
    - Nice handling
    - Powerful engine
    - Fuel efficiency is actually not bad (can get 18km/l on highway and 17km/l on trunk roads)
    - ICC works like a charm when driving long distance
    - Cabin NVH pretty good (hardly any wind sound even at 130kmph)
    - ADAS very good
    - Solid materials (inside and out) - gives a premium feel
    - Throttle spin needs to be addressed (only happens when on auto hold, if that is off, tires spin doesnt happen)
    - Tires sound when at high speeds is there
    - No android auto / apple carplay (yet?)
    - Lack of buttons for drive modes is a bad design decision
    - Seats not as comfortable as initially thought (leg room could be better), i am 180cm tall
To improve
- In car navigation needs to be improved (doesn't really pick the best routes even though option is chosen and upcoming junction alert could be a bit further)
- Throttle spin. Proton needs to do some fine tuning.
- Sadly all the safety features only available on flagship and flagship x versions, should be mandatory for all versions.
Yes, I would recommend this car
