Currently own a Golf MK7 - year 2014 model. Bought since new.
Despite being an entry level car as far as the Golf family is concerned, it is not lacking in performance especially in hard acceleration.
Very stable at high speeds and excellent tracking in corners with XDS differential lock as standard equipment. Standard suspension and torsion beam rear end more than capable of giving sufficient grin in your face, only at the extremes would you miss the multi link setup of the GTI. Decent ride comfort and good damping of bumps.
Extremely frugal - can easily achieve 20km per litre without actually trying. Even on city roads, you can get at least 15 km/litre.
Engine is capable of further tuning - Stage 1 releases around 130 kW of power and 300 Nm of torque.
Excellent lighting spread from front Xenons. With these, there is no need for LEDs.
Minimalist equipment list - this is the initially introduced Golf TSI Mk 7 on Malaysian market.
Convenience blinkers only operate for 3 ticks as compared to our previous Passat B7 (5 ticks).
Air conditioning is over specified, gets too cold too easily.
Puny 16 inch wheels and low rolling resistance tyres do not fit the car's character.
Start/Stop system tends to second guess itself, annoying trait especially during traffic crawls.
Driver's seat doesn't come with electric adjustments - manual levers look and feel cheap.
